Star Cineplex in Rajshahi Hi-Tech Park vandalized
A branch of the "Star Cineplex", the first and the largest multiplex has been vandalized in Rajshahi. The Cineplex located at Bangabandhu Hi-Tech Park in Rajshahi was looted by miscreants on Monday. Star Cineplex Senior Manager (Marketing & Media) Mezbah Uddin Ahmed confirmed the matter to reporters on Wednesday.
Meanwhile, the people involved in the film industry have expressed their anger over the attack and vandalism in the cinema hall. Producer Debashish Biswas, Ananya Mamun posted on social media expressing their anger.
All the musical instruments of Rahul Anand were broken. Debashish Biswas said, "It is not desirable that the cultural arena of the country is being attacked and vandalized in any way." The cinema hall has been vandalized. Who has harmed the cinema? Cinema is not merely a medium of entertainment, rather, it portrays a society. There is no point in vandalizing cinema halls.”
Filmmaker Ananya Mamun said, “When the films of my country started to turn around, it was such a big blow. Today new audiences have started coming to watch movies because of Cineplex. We dream of making big budget films. Rajshahi Hi-Tech Park was looted overnight on August 5, Cineplex was vandalized. Even the commode or water tap in the washroom was not spared.”
